Your Place

A new approach to reaching your local community...

Since September 2008, The Journal has been unveiling a new interactive approach for reaching local communities across Northumberland with the launch of a range of ‘microsites’.

Microsites are ultra local websites designed specifically to...

  • engage the local community.
  • act as a virtual meeting place for residents.
  • provide ultra local content from local people featuring current events, news, views and much more.
  • offer a definitive guide to all that is relevant in your local area.

So far the following microsites have been launched:

Allendale, Alnwick, Amble, Ashington, Bedlington, Bellingham, Berwick, Blyth, Choppington, Corbridge, Cramlington, Haltwhistle, Hexham, Morpeth, Newbiggin, Ponteland, Prudhoe, Rothbury, Seahouses, Seaton Delaval, Widdrington and Wooler.

The Your Place sites will provide visitors with a rich source of ultra local content updated on a daily basis by a dedicated community editorial team.

In addition to this, content will also be generated by visitors themselves – ensuring that they are actively engaging and interacting with the site.

Visitors are encouraged to become regular bloggers and upload photos and videos, resulting in ultra local sites, with relevant up to the minute news – the community takes ownership!

How can the Ultra-local sites work for your business?

Ultra Local Content - Consumers are more likely to respond to a website that is relevant to them. ‘Your Place’ will provide visitors with a rich source of ultra local content updated on a daily basis by a dedicated community editorial team.

Highly Targeted - Each community site is focused on a specific area i.e. Hexham, Alnwick etc. This provides businesses with an opportunity to deliver their marketing message to a highly targeted audience with an active interest in the site.

Interactivity - Whilst there is a dedicated editorial team providing local content, visitors are encouraged to add content, become regular bloggers and upload photos & videos, resulting in an ultra local site with relevant up to the minute news – the community takes ownership!

Cost effective - Our ‘Your Place’ community sites provide effective coverage for businesses looking to penetrate Northumberland. Delivering cost effective advertising solutions and minimising wastage, the sites offer an ideal route to consumers in Northumberland.

Building on the strength of The Journal - Northumberland community sites are easily accessed via our successful JournalLive website, a well respected and established brand which the community already has confidence and trust in.

JournalLive regularly attracts over 150,000 unique users and 550,000 page impressions each month.

Not only this, but the sites are also heavily promoted across our portfolio of print and online products, ensuring that we drive and maximise traffic to the sites.

Loyalty - Customer loyalty - residents feel loyalty to shop locally and see the value of spending money in their community with 78% of people across the North East spending half or more of their money within a 5 mile radius of where they live.
